Rain blushed a little, not entirely sure why she was, and scooped up the backpack with the food and the blankets. "Come on then, I'll show you my favorite place in the forest. This week, at least."

She led the way to a small clearing by a huge tree and set out one of the blankets where they could lean up against the trunk of the tree. "See how nice? Sometimes I would sit out here at night and just watch the stars through the leaves."

Rain curled up happily on the blanket, back against the tree and started setting out the fruit and cheese and crackers. "I'm glad you like it. I never showed it to anyone else before."

Rain shook her head. "Never took anyone on a picnic either. Not here. And mostly for pretend back home. Here it's just me. I have them on my own."

She offered him the other blanket. "Here you can have that. So you can stay warm."

She laughed. "Silly!" But she didn't take it off.

"I'm not worried. I just want you to be happy and comfortable."

Rain reached for a grape and popped it into her mouth. "Oh, it's good." She offered one to him.

She hesitated, then smiled and leaned in to take it with her mouth just as he had. "Thank you."

"You should try the cheese and crackers, too," she said, fixing one for him.

Rain offered it to him with a smile. "There's plenty. I brought a lot and I don't eat much."

"It's not fancy and nice like where you brought me, but it's good," she agreed. "And you can eat all you want."

She leaned a little closer, hardly aware she was doing it, just drawn to him and his warmth.

"So... as long as I feed you, you'll come visit me?" Rain asked. "I could do that."

Her eyes went wide, but she was smiling. "You surprised me, but I liked that. You always make me feel so good. Will you really come be with me?"

Rain's eyes closed when he kissed her and one hand went to her lips. "I feel... when you do that, I feel funny inside. Good, so good."

Her eyes fluttered open again and she smiled up at him a little dreamily. "I'm glad. I don't understand why, but I must just be very very lucky to have found you."

She thought about it carefully. "She sounds like someone in one of the old stories, but I don't think I know anything, no."

"You're kissing me because I don't know something?" she teased. "Because there are lots of things I don't know. You'll have to kiss me a lot."
