059: Thoughtful

I'm glad I did not turn into a boy yesterday. I don't think I would have liked it very much at all. I was torn between laughing and feeling so sorry for people on the Network yesterday. I hope everyone is back to themselves and feeling better.

I know I'm happy. I have two wonderful jobs and wonderful friends and a wonderful housemate and the most ever wonderful home I could ever imagine. I've been here almost eight months and they've been the best eight months that I think I've had since my mother... well, since then.

If I was in a myth or a legend, there would have been a prophecy. You know, like 'In the middle of her 22nd year the chosen one will live in a place of true myths, inside a hill, a place where gods still walk the streets, and there she will...' whatever great thing it is the chosen one is supposed to accomplish.

But I don't think I have much to accomplish.

Though there are some questions I would like to have answers to.

Action*

Just after Rain, Mat arrived. Slowly but surely, his limping was becoming less and he was getting better. He smiled when he saw her and tipped his hat to her.

She smiled back at him. "All the walking is helping. I can tell."

He laughed. "And people were telling me I should sit more than I walk. Well, look at who was right."

"The elders say that you needed to listen to your body and it would tell you what to do," Rain said. "But it was hard to look at you hurting so much and think you should be up like that."

She smiled at him. "But you listened."

"Or you were too stubborn to do what you should and got lucky!"

He laughed again. "Me and my bloody luck. Looks like it came through for me again."

Shaking his head, he walked the rest of the way over before finally taking his hat off.

She smiled up at him, but still looked a bit nervous. "I wonder why they say 'Lucky duck', about people that fortune smiles on."

"I don't know. I've never heard that one." He looked at her curiously then. "What did you want to ask me?"

"Oh, I..." She moved away, around the table, not quite looking at him. "Now it comes down to it, it seems silly, the things I was wondering."

Now he was even more curious. Moving over to the table, he sat down and set his hat on the surface. "It's not silly to me. What did you want to ask?"

Rain shifted uncomfortably, then perched on the arm of one of the comfortable chairs near the sofa. "The other day... you said I was beautiful. And you watched me. When I was getting ready for my bath."

"And then you came into the bath with me... But you didn't..."

Re: Action*

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
She moved again, finding it too hard to stay still. "Didn't... want me."

"Want...you..." He paused then blinked. "Oh. Oh..."

"See. Silly," she said quickly, shifting to yet another place. "I know that's not what - just, we were both - with no clothes - and I wondered. Anyway, see, nothing."

"I should make tea. Tea is good. Would you like some?"

"Rain, that's not silly. Sometimes, things like that happen. At least in my world." He smiled. "There is a race of people, the Aiel, they bathe together all of the time in sweat tents. Men and women together. Everyone without clothes."

Re: Action*

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Truly?" Rain settled briefly on a nearby chair. "I'd never, well, never even been without clothes before with anyone. And usually if a man, well... I thought - and I wouldn't have minded - it might have been - "

And she was up again, moving to the stove area. "Well, good, then. So, tea?"

Re: Action*

Still smiling, he followed after her. "Tea would be nice."

Rain darted a glance up at him as she put the water on. "Yes. Always makes things - you know."

"It does." He leaned against the wall. "It will help relax nerves too."

"Mine are..." she wiggled her fingers expressively and began her wandering again.

Re: Action*

"I noticed. Rain, come here."

Re: Action*

She hesitated, then moved closer. "Yes?"

Re: Action*

Reaching out, he wrapped her in his arms. A light kiss was pressed to her head. "Relax."
