017: At the Library

I listened to some beautiful music under the stars last night. It was so nice to be able to be out in the open to listen.

Luke said I should try to talk to some people named... I think Logan and George? People that he said lived out in the woods like me. So if you see this and want to I'd love to talk to you.

I think if it stays nice today I might go up on the roof and read when I'm done - and before I go to work at Mr. Stark's - so if anyone's looking for me, that's where I'll be. For a while anyway.

You don't get afraid living in the woods?

Sometimes...

Sometimes I sleep here in the library or up on the roof of the library.

I mostly get scared if there aren't enough doors or if I can't see the stars.

Well I'm afraid of the woods, I'm glad you're not.

People are a lot more scary than the woods any day to me.

I'd show you around sometime if you wanted.

I just keep a blanket in my backpack with the rest of the stuff I own and I kind of put up some pine boughs for a little shelter and I sleep under the stars.

That's fairly unique. For someone who spends so much time at the library to also spend so much time out of doors. The two types seem like they wouldn't miss often.

I'm actually... well, I'm kind of scared to be indoors at night. Unless there's lots of doors and I can see the stars or it's a really safe place like the Library.

I think... maybe? If I saw you I'd know for sure.

Well, 'cause then people who might be looking for me know where to find me.

Then what happens when someone you don't want to find you does?

I don't think anybody cares enough to come looking for me.

But if it's a bad person, I'd hear them probably and that's why I want to always have lots of doors.

That's really, really nice of you, thank you, but... it doesn't seem very fair to you. I swear I'm saving up money to pay for what I need.

It's still warm enough that I can get by okay.

And it's not like I remember ever having a home much anyway.

In due time, kid. You got to eat and do other things right? No rush.

I don't eat so very much - peanut butter crackers and water do me just fine - and I only own what I can carry in my backpack. Except for a helmet and heavier clothes that I leave at the library.

So, I'm saving pretty much everything.

It's awfully nice of you to help me like this. I really appreciate it. And if you ever want or need anything I'd do whatever it is.

Sure. I'll keep that in mind. Gimme the plans and a few days. Then no more sleeping in the library.

I don't have anywhere to cook it or anything. And it doesn't stay fresh so well in a backpack!

Luke and Mr. Stark are working on the plans, I think. They're a lot more worried about me not having somewhere to be than I am.

As long as it's not too big and has lots of doors and I can see the stars I think I'll be able to sleep inside. Otherwise I'd be too scared.

And I have to stay at the library sometimes, it would miss me otherwise. Sometimes I think it sort of whispers to me in my sleep, kind of sings me songs or tells me stories, you know?
